Oops missed a month (random rambles)
I told myself I would make at least one blog post for every month this year... my bad... failed that already.. see you all in 2026. But anyway I wanted to make another blog post before I forgot.
I actually wrote an entire mountain on Kai Mutsmi (Jack Jeanne) and got kinda carried away with it and forgot to continue, so I'll probably cut out a huge chunk from that and post it another time :P On the topic of JJ, I just have 2 routes left to do (Fumi&Kisa) which are arguably some of the most interesting routes. I've been really into my OCs and regrettably FFXIV again so I've put JJ on the back burner for a while :,(
Omg.. I will continue the FFXIV ramble after I tak about my OCs but I'm very happy with 7.2 so far!
AQUAMARINE
(It's
a work in progress... they're just floating heads... when I get lazy
with lineart I put down some flats to motivate myself like, "hey look
how much better it looks with colour... keep lining and it'll look
better")
If you aren't familiar with my OCs, the guy on the left
is Alba and the lady on the right is Nina. They work at Aquamarine (also
the title of my OCverse) which is a facility that floats on top of the
ocean because the world flooded 200-something years ago. This drawing
idea spawned from the Art Fight spring prompts
where one of them is "clover", so I wanted to draw Nina putting a
clover necklace onto Alba. Alba is a superstitious freak, so he looks to
lucky charms for protection against his supposed "bad luck". Why not
draw some proper oc stuff and also get a free art fight badge?!
If you were wondering what kind of relationship Nina and Alba have, it's something or another... You can probably tell from their expressions a little...
I
actually drew two other thumbnails for the Art Fight thing that I quite
like, but I have a problem where I spend too much time on thumbs so I
don't know how to continue with the drawing process. I have a better
grasp now though because I've decided I want to work on lineart again..
I've been avoiding it for ages x(
(It's
Aquamarine's divers!!!! Dolly and Alba!!! For a little bit of
background, diving is a common occupation in Aquamarine-verse since the
world flooded and there's a lot of water. Can you guess which diver has a
happier life? .... But yea I'll try to finish these this month if I
don't get lazy :P)
I have been really enjoying building my OCs, it takes a surprisingly long time for me to develop stuff but it's super fun. I recommend trying to make your own OCverse if you ever get bored. I actually wouldn't have Aquamarine if I wasn't forced to make something for my college final project last year so I have to thank college a little... I'll admit I didn't find my time at college that fufilling, but it definitely got me out of my comfort zone and making things.
I've
also been trying my hand at writing but it's totally 100% self
indulgent crap LOL. I need to read more books to get a better grasp at
writing, but also I need to read more in general. I recently did that reader quiz
(try it! It's quick and gives you book recs) and got purple reader.
I'll take a look at the recommendations it gave me sometime..
FFXIV
Okay I'm going to talk about spoilers ok. 7.2 SPOILER WARNING! INCLUDING ARCADION! Look away if you care...!!!!!!!!!!
The MUSIC!!! WOW! SO GOOD! I love every arcadion track and I LOVE that every fighter has their own theme. It really gives them more personality and makes the fights more memorable. I'm a huge fan of every arcadion fighter so far even though they don't have much screentime. The battles themselves have so much personality that it makes up for the lack of interactions personally.
Even though the storyline is quite short, I've taken a liking to the miqo'te sisters... I love that Yaana is the companion for this questline, I like to think she's roid's younger sister. Eutrope is cool and mysterious, I really love her Wicked Thunder transformation and theme song!!! I hope she doesn't die... Neyuni is really funny because she's a little child genius and it reminds me of Chelsea Barbie life in the dreamhouse.
I enjoy the storyline about Psychokenesis and how it parallels injury in real life wrestling. My partner told me about this in more detail since he's a wrestling fan, but he said that arcadion is much like how wrestlers in real life risk injury all the time and how severe it can get, resulting in retirement and sometimes death. This applies to atheletes in general too, but arcadion uses wrestling terminology specifically so that's what it's most comparable to.
My biggest gripe with the story is how quickly they killed off Hector/Brute Bomber???! I understand that arcadion was kinda his entire life, but surely him and Retsarra/Howling Blade would have been able to use their fame and new connections to be able to live a life outside of arcadion, right? It felt a bit too fast how quick Hector was to steal all of those souls and die... But it's definitely because they're bringing him back as a cyborg next tier or something.
BTW
Howling Blade is a sexy beast. I love his theme song because it's
somehow got really cringey lyrics about being a wolf and howling and
prowling but it's also a really beautiful track about him finding his
freedom and expressing himself when he's Howling Blade.
MSQ? I did enjoy it even though I jumped to talking about arcadion first LOL. NewSphene.. oh my god.. she is the cutest thing I have ever seen... I kept getting distracted by how cute she was...
Well actually now that I'm writing this I don't have that many opinions on MSQ. Calyx is ok, cool design and cool idea (I like scientist-types that contrast Roid's ideals, fun wol VS villain parallels) but there's not much I have to say about him right now lol. I do love evilgirl Sphene, it's fun how she was merely a replication (though, the 'Sphene' we knew was also a replication). This is definitely building up to something more and I'm very excited for it. I found base DT rather lacking, so I'm glad that the patches picked up a bit.
In
a few weeks we get cosmic exploration YAAAAY! IDK if being pentamelded
matters but I am very prepared.. I have lots of food and materials and
junk... I want new rewards too hehe. Next month we get the beautiful
exploration zone which is the biggest treat.. It'll be right after my
birthday IIRC (I'm turning 20 this year too!)
MISC
Other than OCs and FFXIV I've been watching some stuff. I watched MyGo and Ave Mujica and honestly? I love it. I was amused by the idea of Bandori of all things tackling more serious topics and having melodramatic plotlines, but it's pretty well done and I really like the characters in both shows, though I do prefer Ave Mujica as a band. Love the aesthetics and the music.
My favourite MygoAvemu characters are Mutsumi and Mortis. I won't say more in case you want to check out the anime, but I totally recommend it!! It might not be for everyone, it's a girls band anime, but you might enjoy it!
I also watched my friend play AITSF: Nirvana Initiative (the second game in the AI series) for the first time with another friend who has already played the game. If you know me then you might know I don't like AINI, but watching gameplay again really just reinforced that I HATE this game LMFAOOO. I don't even recommend it.. You'd probably be better off with just playing AITSF which itself is a fantastic game, but that does mean you miss out on some characters from AINI like Ryuki and Tama which is a shame.
It's genuinely impressive how forgettable AINI is to me, I forgot a lot of pretty major story beats and that might be attributed to me not caring, but I forgot the FINAL TWIST. It was that bad. The game wastes so much time on nothing and then drops everything in the last 5 hours of the game it's kind of ridiculous. The worst part is that the final twist I forgot is genuinely the best story in the game that it's a shame it's overshadowed by the mountains of garbage from the first half of the game.
I'm currently watching Star Driver, which is probably the weirdest anime I've seen in a while... Someone said this was like Utena but with mechs and honestly it's kinda accurate, considering that Star Driver's writer worked on Utena. You can definitely tell it was made in 2010 but it's just so charming that I can't help but keep watching. I'm about half way through the show and not sure what to make of it quite yet, but I'm definitely enjoying it.
That's all I got in me.. Hopefully I don't forget anymore blog posts... Once a month shouldn't be too hard ^_^')
