JUNE RAMBLES

Another month passes and it's my mission to post every month on Rankaroid blog!!!!! So here's the June edition. I did actually post in February but I privated the post since I think I could have worded some things about Neji JJ better lol. Anyway..

Happy Pride Month! This is probably the worst time to say it now that only a week remains but I hope you've all had a good gay time. Fun fact: I am bisexual. Okay I don't really have much more to say about that but I don't think I've mentioned that on the blog lol.

June is also me and my partner's anniversary month! We celebrated our 4th year of love on the 22nd!

I drew our FFXIV wols together for the occasion! Roid and Moonflower FTW.

 

You probably already know if you know me but I really love my partner, Kee. He is the sweetest boyfriend I could ever possibly ask for. He's my best friend and my soulmate. I cherish every day with him!!! Real fun fact: we started dating after watching Madagascar 2 together. We were feeling out dating for a while and spent a few weeks watching films together... and the film we happened to be watching was Madagascar 2. Lol.

 

 Love is in the air.. but something ominous looms...............................YUP... IT'S ART FIGHT. NEXT WEEK. Siighhhhhh..................... Deep sighhhhhh........... Yeah I'm excited but I haven't finished refs.......... And you wanna know why.....? It's Danganronpa Another's fault.

 

DON'T! EVEN! GET ME STARTED!!!!! Oh dear. I'm actually obsessed with DRA/SDRA2 to an embarassing degree. Me and my friends Luka and Weez finished SDRA2 a few days ago and I'm still recovering. I'll definitely make a blog post for that on its own another time after I collect my thoughts further lol. I would be drawing so much fanart if art fight wasn't about to start >_> ... I have a very one-track mind so working on multiple projects is really difficult for me. One thing at a time pretty please... I'll take things at my own pace.

 

 
Here's a little WIP of something I'm drawing! I'm drawing some DRA cheebs. Rei Mekaru :-) (I really want more people to play the games... If you want to play then I recommend not googling any of the characters I ever mention lol.)

 

I recently finished my art trades and I feel like I'm getting back into the "I am drawing at every hour of the day" groove. I'm already over Occult's Crescent... Honestly I haven't been into XIV as much lately which is fine because I need to be more productive lol. All of my XIV friends and oomfs seem to feel the same though, I've been seeing less of it. But that's ok!! Breaks are needed.

 

I always mention the OC-related ambitions I have and realize I haven't really made much progress on them lol (I had a legitimate reason though... Art trades are DONE). But I really want to get onto working on Aquamarine 3D models!! I finally have the time to but making references is a lot of work you know.... If I finish art fight junk early then I'll do some blender work.

 

I'm just kinda worried for some reason. I really don't want to flub the models but obviously they're not going to turn out perfect on the first try lol. I'm most worried about the proportions. I don't want the models to be too cheebish but not too long either yknow.... I'll reference some video game models T_T).... I have a folder on my computer dedicated to 3D models I want to study which I think is a good step.

 

I was thinking about it because of the new Deltarune CH3 character, Tenna. He's a 3D model with a pixel shader which is exactly what I want my Aquamarine models to be lol. I can do it........!!!!!!!!!!

 

Oh, yeah! Deltarune CH3+4 was awesome!!! I really enjoyed watching Kee play them but I'll eventually replay the whole game myself sometime. I hope I don't suck too badly lol. The last time I played Deltarune, I was failing horribly at Jevil's fight....Never beat it.........

 JACK JEANNE - KAI ROUTE

 Another route done (5/7! .... technically only 4 but I watched my friend play Suzu's route in its entirety.... I might skip out on writing a post on Suzu entirely for a few reasons...) and this time is my beloved Kai Mutsumi!

This route might just be my favourite so far. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

 I can't believe I'm saying this but this post is about Danganronpa (Another)

Was a mention on my last blog post not enough?! No?! Well I'm gonna be honest- this game is plaguing my mind like fucking crazy!!!! Me and my friends (Luka and Weez. Shout out) finished DR:A the other day and I just can't get over how much I enjoyed it. It's even more exciting considering that we still have the prologue to do for DR:A and that there's an entire second game too (SDRA2).

This is going to be a spoiler-free post because I really desperately want more people to experience this fangan, it's really fantastic. What if Danganronpa was good?

By the way, if you do genuinely want to give this game a chance, do NOT look up anything especially not about the characters(I'M SERIOUS). The download link for the game is here! Click me! Danganronpa Another ~Another Despair Academy~

 Honestly? This game doesn't deviate very far from the likes of DR1 but it somehow takes the concepts presented in the game and take them further and execute things way better lol.

Here's some important background to know about this game:

1. First of all, development started in 2013 and continued until 2015 which actually means it predates a lot of existing Danganronpa. 
2. Secondly, this game is made in RPG Maker which sounds like an odd choice, but honestly it's very well done. The trial sections are the most impressive since they are have solid replications of the DR trial minigames. 
3. Thirdly, this game was made by a team of 3 people. The main dev, Linuj, did the programming, writing and art for this game!! Isn't that crazy?! He had assistance from Kim Master who coloured illustrations and Bammunbagi who helped with the sounds and story.
4. The translations for this game are a bit odd in places. Most FTEs are untranslated ingame (but are available on Youtube) (we personally used machine translation) and some parts have poor wording, but the translated parts are still understandable. We still managed to enjoy this game despite this and I hope you can get past it too. It kind of makes the game funnier in parts but that's just me.
   
   (Frankly, the circumstances of this game's creation only adds to how impressive it is that this game outdoes any Danganronpa game ever.)

Our protag is Yuki Maeda, the Ultimate Lucky Student, who was accepted into Hope's Peak Academy after being chosen in the student lottery. Sounds familiar so far! He's nervous about his first day and takes his first steps into the academy, meeting the colourful cast that are his classmates for the next few years.

The talents in this game are pretty standard and there's nothing super crazy. Okay maybe the Ultimate Sniper is a little crazy but I feel like it's more accurate to describe her as a markswoman since her talent is moreso being able to aim accurately and not just limited to rifles.

Who do you think is gonna survive? 🤭 Who do you think is secretly crazy?

 

I feel like in Danganronpa games there are a few talents that are kind of stupid but in this game, every talent is something practical. No Ultimate Fanfic Writer or Ultimate Affluent Progeny (sorry Byakuya but that title fucking sucks..) That's just a personal nitpick, though. I really love this cast and of course there's some weaker characters, but most of them are fantastic and the development is so well done. I'm attached to most of them....

 

This is all I can tell you without spoiling the fun... sorry! But if any of this intriges you, I totally recommend you play this game or watch a playthrough if you don't want to go through the hassle of downloading it. 

I'm sorry about how much I've been posting about this game... I can't help it... But I've avoided posting spoilers >_o)* I just really adore this game and I think people should give it a try. I hope this post can get at least one person to give the game a try!!!
